Yoga Scholarships for Black, Indigenous, & People of Color

At Big River Yoga, we recognize the practice, benefits, and availability of yoga has not been made accessible to many Black, Indigenous*, and People of Color (BIPOC) folks. We believe representation matters and BIPOC folks have traditionally been under-represented in the Westernized yoga community. With the aim of creating greater equity, we are offering free New Student Intro Offers to people that self-identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. We are committed to making our studio and community a space where BIPOC can feel welcomed, represented, and safe.

After your two week New Student Intro Offer, you’ll have the option to continue your practice with an Unlimited All Access Yoga membership at a monthly price that works for your life, commitment level, and budget on a pay-what-works-for-you scale.

To Get Started:

  • Go to our weekly class schedule, select the class you wish to take and create an account. You can then self-select the “BIPOC Free Intro Offer” pricing option. Try out 2 weeks of unlimited classes and get to know our studio with no commitment. We will likely reach out to during your Intro Offer to see how you are enjoying class. :)

  • If you decide you want to continue, you can fill out the web form below, indicate how much you would like to pay on a pay-what-feels-right-for-you plan, and we will set you up with an Unlimited All Access Membership.

We also know that while this offering is a small action we can offer, the true practice resides in fighting systemic racism in the greater community. And while it is true that financial hardships have been disproportionately faced by communities of color due to generations of wealth inequities, these yoga scholarships were not created to simply be an offering of charity for low-income individuals. We extend this as an offer of solidarity to anyone that identifies as black, American Indian, or a person of color of any income scale as a small way we, as white-skinned yoga studio owners, can make reparations by providing our services of yoga.

This scholarship is intended for students who self-identify as Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Color and have a desire to commit to a consistent yoga practice.

Please reach out to info@bigriveryoga.com with any questions you may have. We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you in a livestream or studio class. Welcome to Big River Yoga.
